Background on the Water Quality Management Plan
The Water Quality Management Plan was initiated in January of 2022 and was approved by the Board of County Commissioners in June of 2024. The Management Plan articulates input and recommendations from a collection of partners: Teton County, Teton Conservation District (TCD), Protect Our Waters Jackson Hole (POWJH), Trihydro and Flitner Strategies, Inc., and five stakeholder groups consisting of individual community members with expertise and interest in specific water quality issues.
The Management Plan was aimed at identifying practical water quality actions, including recommended amendments to the Land Development Regulations. The general areas of consideration include the following:
- Stormwater and snow storage management
- Manmade features
- River, stream, wetland, and riparian habitat protection
- Groundwater and drinking water protection
- Agricultural land use
- Native plants landscaping requirements
- Water conservation
- RV wastewater management
The Management Plan can be found online here: https://jacksontetonplan.com/381/Water-Quality-Management-Plan. The final LDR recommendations are in Appendix D of the Management Plan.
